Our
Story

For generations, cities across the country have attempted to support hiring local residents of disenfranchised communities into jobs in growing economies; however, the employers’ mantra has been that they could not find trained and educated employees and if they did, they were not “job ready.”

Concurrently, many providers in the workforce space are funded to

provide training not linked directly to jobs. Turnaround Tuesday (TAT) was

created in response to a listening campaign through BUILD (Baltimoreans

United in Leadership Development) which is connected to the Industrial

Areas Foundation, a national, broad-based network of community-based

organizations.

Through door to door listening sessions in the community, we learned that many people held training certificates but those with criminal backgrounds were never invited for job interviews. Our core focus is to connect disenfranchised residents to a full spectrum of workforce development opportunities while engaging employers in the local footprint.
